Incumbents David Stasny, John Street Begin New Board Terms

David Stasny retained the Bryan ISD Place 6 At-Large seat on the Board of Trustees, according to election results Nov. 4. Incumbent John Street (District 2) was reelected, having run unopposed in the election.
The results, certified Nov. 13, showed Stasny with 71 percent of the vote and his opponent, Roy Flores, trailing with 29 percent.
Citing his reasons for seeking office in a recent interview with The Eagle, Stasny said, “I can't think of a better way to provide a public service. Public schools are constantly under attack, and we need them to operate as well as they possibly can. They are in constant need of good leadership to do that.”
Stasny, 62, is an attorney in private practice. He has four children, ages 26, 30, 33 and 35. He has served on the Bryan ISD Board since 1990, and his new term would expire in 2017. In addition to his frequent service on various committees, Stasny represents Bryan ISD on the Texas Association of Boards’ (TASB) Legislative Advisory Council (LAC).  According to TASB, the LAC is responsible for merging the regional priorities identified by school board members around the state into a statewide list of legislative priorities.

Canvassing of the votes took place Nov. 13 at noon in the Bryan ISD Administration Building Board Room.
