December Teacher of the Month

One of Bryan ISD’s finest teaches music at Sam Houston Elementary School. Brittany Gibson shared her gifts as a music student at Bryan High School and now she shares her gifts as a teacher in her orchestration of a highly effective music program at Sam Houston. The evidence is in the many positive fine arts experiences she creates for our children. Brittany Gibson's poised and professional demeanor draws students to gain purpose and value in their appreciation of music. We are proud of her commitments to her program and for her leadership this year. Brittany is in her second year on our campus and has stepped up as the lead teacher for our specials department. Nick Luggerio, our fine arts director, recognized her gifts and grabbed her up to help author our district music curriculum.

We are very fortunate to have her at Sam Houston. She uses patience and wisdom working with students. Brittany is always there greeting our students with a smile on her face when we drop them off for music. The children enjoy her class and always come back to class with something to share that they have learned. She is an amazing music teacher who is creative and inspiring to the children and has fun with each lesson she teaches. It is a pleasure to watch children blossom under her constant, caring guidance.

Brittany is such a light to Sam Houston! She shines daily in her music classes. She praises her students and encourages them to grow and learn in class. She tunes in to children individually and accepts them for who they each are and what gifts they bring to our world. She is an amazing music teacher who is creative and inspiring to the children and has fun with each lesson she teaches. She always greets each class with such a sweet spirit. It is easy to see that she enjoys what she is doing.

She is willing to go the extra mile to share her love of music with each child. Mrs. Gibson recognized a need for our students to honor the Veterans. She created an amazing Veterans’ Day program in which all staff and students could play a part in showing our appreciation for the service men and women. We still had many families talking two weeks after our program about the wonderful way our students honored the Veterans. The design of the program allowed the service men and women who had students attending Sam Houston to be honored through artwork, song and notes. We had amazing decorations and students from multiple grades were able to participate in the program. She coached students who participated in and placed at our District wide UIL meet in music memory. She also wants to help our students grow in their love for music and has begun a choir at Sam Houston. She has about 40 students from 4th and 5th grade who have signed up to learn more and to perform at different places. She already has our students working on their first performance which will take place in December.

Brittany is an awesome team member who is a joy to work with! She cares deeply about the kids and the staff and we are so lucky to have her as part of our school family! Brittany is Bryan ISD!
