The fourth-grade students in the Houston Elementary School Student Council show leadership in many ways. During "Someone I'm Thankful For" lunches, student council members showed support to our PTO by selling "turkey pops", they greeted families in attendance, served tea, and passed out utensils.
These students also stepped up to lead our school’s canned food drive. They made posters to promote participation, then, sorted, counted, and boxed the items to be donated to the KBTX Food for Families Food Drive. They participated in the parade before school and enjoyed some warm donuts after.
As a group, they decided to help promote the school's recycling club. They made posters to encourage other students to recycle their aluminum cans and plastic bottles instead of throwing them away.
